Cleansing for the first time is never easy, because you don’t know what to expect. But with a little mental preparation and discipline to follow the pre-cleanse guidelines, it will get easier.

Know What You’re In For

Common side effects of cleansing include headaches, tiredness and nausea. People experience this to varying degrees, some more severe than others. Before your cleanse, we will send you a set of juice cleanse guidelines to prepare your body and mind for what’s to come over the next three or five days. These include tips such as what you should be eating or not eating prior to the cleanse that will significantly reduced the hunger cravings you experienced. 

Be Self-Aware

Some people like to do their cleanse on weekends when they can shut themselves at home and away from temptation; others prefer to do it on weekdays so they’re distracted by all they have to do at work and don’t have time to think about food. Figure out which method suits you best before you decide on your start date.

Get your family and friends in on it as well

Before you start your cleanse, do let your loved ones and friends know when you’re doing it, and what you hope to accomplish out of it (be it to get more glowing skin, to reboot your energy levels or to help kick-start a healthier lifestyle). When they know exactly why you’re cleansing, they’re bound to be more supportive of your efforts, and less inclined to tempt you with the sinful foods you enjoy.

Have physical reminders of why you’re doing the cleanse

The first couple of days of the cleanse will be a bit tough, and there will be times when you’ll feel like throwing in the towel. The best way to ensure you don’t give up is to write little encouraging post-it notes to yourself and stick it in the spaces you regularly occupy (your office cubicle, your bathroom, etc). Constantly remind yourself that you’re doing this for YOU, and no one else. Also, prepare a non-food reward for yourself for when you finish your cleanse. It can be something as simple as buying tickets for that movie you’ve been dying to watch, or allowing yourself to buy that dress you’ve been eyeing. These treats will be so much sweeter (metaphorically) when you know you’ve earned it!
